The Frogs Who Desired A King - 2010 Version
I was looking through my bookshelf and I found an old book of Aesop's Fables. After reading some, it amazed me that our ancients could be so wise to teach those that followed them lessons in life. One such fable in my book is The Frogs Who Desired a King. In summery, the community of frogs in a pond became disenchanted and wanted a king. They asked Zeus to send them a king, so Zeus in jest sent a log. Seeing that the log was not a good leader and would not move, the frogs asked Zeus for a real king, so Zeus sent the frogs a stork which began to eat the frogs. Unhappy and scared, the frogs then asked Zeus to take the stork away. Zeus refused and scolded the frogs that they had gotten exactly what they had wanted so they would have to live with the results from their desired king. The moral of the story is that you should be careful what you wish for.
We should have listened to our elders...
In 2008, the economy was in bad shape. George W. Bush, who would be the log in our fable, did much of nothing as the frogs (us) became disenchanted with our capitalist ways here in America. So the voters pleaded for a real leader and lo and behold, they elected Barack Hussein Obama (our stork in our fable). Satisfied with the promise of "hope and change", a majority of voters loved their new leader. But then came the reality. Billion dollar "stimulus packages", car company takeovers, and Obamacare soon followed. Now, the economy is no better off where it was in 2008. Jobs are still being lost, the stock market is just as volatile, the housing market is still sluggish, and we are trillions more in debt to show for it. To make matters worse, taxes might go up after this year.
So be careful what you wish for, you might just get it. A majority of voters wanted "change", so they got it - a change from capitalism to socialism. Zeus in our old fable would be laughing just as he did at the frogs in their pond.
Vote November 2nd, and help reign in Obama. Your country depends on it.
