We Allowed China To Do This To Us
Every year, China's Most Favored Nation trade status comes up for renewal. Each year, we hear the same pleas about China's human rights violations and a undervalued Yuan. A new year, same arguments. Our politicians use this MFN status to score political points with each others' bases and to beat their chests that they are more foreign policy savvy than the next guy or gal. The real problem is not China's MFN status; its how much they own of our debt. And now it's really serious.
From the AP today: "Chinese missile could shift Pacific power balance"
It seems the Chinese have created what the military has nicknamed a "carrier killer" that has deadly accuracy and can be used up to 900 miles from land. It's safe to say that the Chinese are probably working on a ship to ship version as well. Those in the know say this could be a game changer in who has power in the Pacific. Will we still be able to "do whatever it takes" to defend Taiwan from mainland China? Can we still take unilateral action against North Korea without China coming to her rescue to damage or destroy our naval presence? In addition, we know that there are those that have access to Chinese arms that have been arrested for allegedly selling prohibited arms to Iran and possibly a missile system. How did we get to this point? We have to take a short trip down memory lane to help explain the answer.
In 1996, then President Clinton allowed the sale of radiation hardened chip sets to China. These chips apparently were supposed to be used for a new weather satellite, but these chips also have very useful military applications - that I'm sure that idea was not lost on the Chinese government. In an almost prophetic statement, Former Asian Security Fellow at the Center for Security Policy, Rich Fisher said:
Sorry to some of my Republican friends, but George W. Bush didn't help the situation either. It's one thing to arm a possible enemy, but it's quite another thing to undercut your ability to fight that possible enemy or their friends. Our runaway spending in this country has allowed that very situation to happen. Take a look at this chart :

As a result of our politicians' spending habits, our country has had to borrow more and more. Our national debt as I write this stands at $13.285 trillion. In the chart above, you can see how China has been buying up our debt like a fat kid eats cake. Because China owns so much of our debt, there is no doubt in my mind that China will have a say in our foreign policy decisions whether we like it or not. This relates again to Iran, North Korea, and especially Taiwan. Because of Clinton and W, we have a situation where we gave China the technology to fight us, and then gave them the keys to our vault. Thanks W.
Clinton and W are out of office, so now we are on Obama's watch. It seems he hasn't learned much from his predecessors. George W. Bush, in 8 years increased our national debt by $4.899 trillion which equates to about $610 billion per year in office. In less than 2 years of being in office, Obama has increased our national debt $2.676 trillion which is currently at about a rate of a yearly increase of $1.6 trillion, furthering our indebtedness to China and other nations. [numbers crunched from Treasury Direct] Furthermore, President Obama has been on a mission to destroy NASA. NASA research is a huge reason why we have all those neat toys the military gets to play with. Technology gets passed from one agency to another, and eventually, civilian applications are found and sold to the general public. JFK knew that a space program was essential to the United States becoming and then maintaining our technological and military superiority . Instead, Obama wants to gut NASA's budget, spend money we don't have and print more money when the government wants to spend more. As a result, it would seem the mistakes of Clinton and W are lost on Obama. Thanks Barry.
Back to present day. Our nation's debt is now a literal threat to our national security. Despite new "tough" sanctions on Iran via the United Nations, China continues to do an increasing amount of business inside Iran - especially in the energy sector. Do you really expect China will allow the US or anyone else to go destabilize Iran, let alone attack Iran? Absolutely not. What are we to do about it? Yet another trip to the UN to hammer out some useless agreement - of course all with China's blessing. Again, what else are we to do? We have kow-towed to China for decades and now we see where it has got us. China's economy is growing, their military is getting more powerful while we find ourselves behind in a possible new Cold War - with China.

"In all likelihood we will be glowing in the dark before we discover the true extent of the Clinton decade of betrayal. If it was indeed intended for a new PRC weather satellite, then it is possible that it was used for their new polar orbit weather satellites. This is significant because the Chinese themselves acknowledge that their polar orbit weather satellites directly contribute to their long-range missile targeting capability. This becomes even more important for their new smaller but more accurate warheads, used on their new DF-31, DF-31A, DF-5 Mod2 and JL-2 missiles. If they encounter significant weather, warhead accuracy degrades, reducing their utility."Who's to say they didn't use that technology that Clinton allowed China to have to help develop the new Dong Feng 21D "carrier killer"? How could they have developed a missile with such accuracy if it wasn't for the US helping them? In fact, the technology transfer could have been used to allow China to develop multiple warhead nuclear missliles (MIRVS). Worse yet, who's to say that another arms dealer couldn't get their hands on the DF-21D technology and sell it to North Korea, or even worse - Iran? Thanks Billy.
