Turning Our Backs On Our Friends Again
How many more friends can the Obama administration alienate? Our President insults the Dalai Lama to appease China, insults President Sarkozy of France, and upsets our long term ally England - all within a year and a half. But he's not done yet. As if insulting Israel earlier this year was not enough, the Obama administration has supported a resolution in the United Nations calling on Israel to sign on to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Let's face facts, it's the worst kept secret in the world about Israel having nuclear weapons. Israel neither denies or acknowledges this fact. The kicker about the NPT is that Israel would have to open its nuclear plants and other "test" sites to international inspection by the IAEA. Meanwhile, Iran is openly moving toward nuclear capabilities but yet the world, especially the US, seems not to care too much. In fact, the UN resolution does not even mention Iran at all . Amazing.
Look at Israel versus Iran regarding the necessity or justification of possessing nuclear weapons.
Since Israel's creation in 1948, they have been attacked numerous times from inside and outside of Israel. Arab leaders from Nassar to Amadbinejad have called for the destruction of Israel. Amadbinejad in particular has hinted at using nuclear weapons against Israel to accomplish such a feat. In addition, Israel has had a very stable government.
Iran has been invaded once since 1948 - by Saddam Hussein during the 1980s. Granted, the international community was entangled propping up a government until 1979, but as far as armed aggression toward Iran, there has not been many. Furthermore, I can't recall any world leaders openly calling for Iran's destruction - as in wiped off the map. Also, the Iranian government isn't the most stable in the world.
So ask yourself, which country would be more likely to use nuclear weapons in an offensive strike? Which country would possess nuclear weapons to possibly deter another attack by hostile neighbors?
We see how the nuclear nation of North Korea has been pushing its weight around by sinking a South Korean ship and then threatening nuclear retaliation if the world condemns their actions. The Obama administration doesn't think a similar action and chest puffing wouldn't happen if Iran had nuclear weapons?
One last point. There is a flotilla of "relief" ships heading toward the Gaza Strip loaded with activists and supplies to give aid to the besieged Palestinians. The world media seems to be applying pressure against Israel for sending their Navy out to intercept these ships from delivering their goods through the blockade. Israel wants the flotilla to port in Israel or Egypt and from there, supplies would be shipped into the Gaza. Not surprisingly, the flotilla organizers have declined and instead intend to break the Gaza blockade. Hollywood and other lefty activists would make Palestine and Gaza seem like China occupied Tibet. The difference being Tibet isn't controlled by Hamas, whose mission is the destruction of Israel. Before we start worrying about the women, children and other innocents within Palestine, remember, if their government and those their government supports would not be conducting the clandestine strikes against Israel, those innocents would not be in the situation they are in. But it's all Israel's fault, isn't it? Same thing in North Korea. But it's all the fault of "the West"?
