Last Night

Last night, the Effingham County Republicans held their Fall Festival at Lake Sara.  I have to say it was an overwhelming success!  We had about 250 - 300 people there and just about every candidate on the GOP primary slate.  There were many great speeches from the candidates including John Arrington, Pat Hughes, Dan Proft, and many others.  It was great to see the voters of Effingham County mingling with the candidates and getting to know those that are vying to represent us.  It was also great to see many of our elected officials such as State Sen. Dale Righter, State Sen. Kyle McCarter, and State Rep. David Reis in attendence as well.

I would just like to extend a thank you to everyone that came out last night and made the event a success.  By showing your support and interest, our elected officials and candidates realized that Effingham is not a place they can ignore.  By talking with some of the candidates, they were impressed by the beauty of Lake Sara.  The weather was great yesterday and the leaves were just beginning to turn so the lake had an almost postcard quality to it.

Finally, thank you to Bob Shelton who used his boat to give boat rides around the lake and Witt's BBQ for the great food.  Dr. Wallace got a great taste of what downstate has to offer and commented how great the BBQ was.  I hope he and the other candidates will be back soon.  In fact, I think Lt. Gov. candidate Jason Plummer may be here for the Halloween parade.

Last night also showed Pat Brady and Curt Conrad that there is a huge conservative movement going on and people like Mark Kirk will not be tolerated anymore.
