And The Difference Is?

Double Standard #1

Do we all remember how the media had a spastic fit when the dearly departed Robert Novak outed Valerie Plame as a CIA agent?  The media cried foul and wanted Novak and anyone else put on trial.  Plame even testified in front of Congress over the whole situation.  The media also tried to link the leak directly to their arch-enemy Karl Rove.  Plame and her husband even went so far as to sue Vice President Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, and Scooter Libby.  The lawsuit was dismissed, but Scooter Libby was eventually convicted and went to jail for the leak.

It has now come out that the ACLU and other defense lawyers have shown pictures of undercover/covert CIA agents to Gitmo detainees.  These lawyers and other civil rights groups may have had help from the Obama Justice Department.  Will there be a huge media outcry over this?  No.  Will there be Congressional hearings?  No.  Will there be lawsuits?  Maybe someday by those outed.  Will there be a criminal investigation and conviction?  Most likely not.

Double Standard #2

During the last Presidency, there was an uproar over Vice President Dick Cheney and his old company Halliburton getting contracts from the Defense Dept for work in Iraq.  It was worth millions upon millions of dollars and many in the media believed that it had something to do with Dick Cheney.  This little nugget is a favorite attack line against the war in Iraq, Bush and Cheney.

Now, we have an ad agency, founded by David Axelrod, that is going to receive $24 million and nothing is being said.  Of course, Fox News is all over it with Glenn Beck opening his show the other day on that story.  However, the other media is all too quiet about these cozy connection between Axelrod and AKPD.  They'll mention it but any in-depth investigation will not be forthcoming.

When the left does it, it's ok and over looked.  If the right does something, the media scrambles like a disturbed anthill.  Amazing.  This is surely not the only 2 double standards out there, and we can probably expect plenty more.
