Are They Getting Desperate?
What amazes me is when people drag out one person and say that what they did or represented is indicative of how the group thinks. To me, it's a sign of desperation to try to discredit the opposition instead of taking on the facts head on. Of course, the tyranny of the majority refuses to argue facts, but deals exclusively in the realm of name calling and branding.
As an example, Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY) dragged out some poor soul that used to work in the insurance industry and has said he had in the past engaged in fermenting "grassroots" organizations to combat any changes to the health care industry. Although he admits that he has no proof that the current town hall protesters are funded or organized by the insurance industry lobby. He also said that he helped write the line "slippery slope to socialism". Gee, I guess we owe him royalties then?
This is where the left has gone wrong. They villainize and name call. They dodge and weave the facts and go on with their lives in DC and Springfield with an air of "I know better than they do" mentality. What is happening in the country right now is not a push by insurance companies or the Republican party; it's regular people angry about what is happening to the country we love.
To those on the left that might be reading this or received it because some intelligent concerned citizen (not Nazis like Pelosi would have you believe) forwarded it on to you, click on this video. Those of us that oppose what the tyranny of the majority is doing should watch that video also just as a reminder. Rick Santelli of CNBC started this all this vocal opposition to big government, the era of irresponsibility, and increases of moral hazards. He called for a Chicago tea party and the idea spread like wildfire. He encouraged all of us to challenge what the Congress and the Obama administration was trying to push on us. Not the insurance companies. Not the Republican party.
April 15th came and went and the media and Robert Gibbs began their dismissal of the opposition to Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and that "slippery slope" that President Bush started us down.
Stef and I held a Tax Day Tea Party on April 15th here in Effingham. To Rep. Slaughter, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and other naysayers, we just want you to know we have not received and have not cashed any checks or payments from either the insurance companies or the Republican party as compensation for our efforts to oppose the destruction of our Constitution and our government's hell bent for leather track toward socialism.
The people that are at the town hall meetings and those that will be organizing and attending the 9-12 Tea Party in Effingham are genuine people concerned about their country, family, freedoms, and livelihoods. Those on the left don't get it and are puzzled to why people are acting the way they do - just as Sen. McCaskill told the crowd yesterday.
The tyranny of the majority misread the election results. Yes, they have a majority in Congress and own the White House. However, the electorate voted for Obama because he was not George W. Bush. McCain fumbled almost every step of the way in his candidacy except when he asked Sarah Palin to be his VP. But that too also was soon bungled by McCain's handlers. That was the change that people voted for. Not a change from capitalism to socialism. Not a change from freedom to government control of their lives. Not a change from a country based on a document outlining our rights called the Constitution to a country based on the ideology and agenda of a tyranny of the majority.
