What's Good for the Goose is not Good for the Gander?

NY Times Stays Silent

We're happy to see that NY Times reporter David Rohde has escaped from his 7 month long abduction by the Taliban in Afghanistan.  But, the way the NY Times chose to cover up his abduction in fear of his safety has us scratching our heads.  Isn't this the same NY Times that has no qualms with publishing or wanting to publish photos of detainees at Gitmo and elsewhere which would risk the safety of our troops??  Furthermore, we find it odd that Al-Jazeera was willing to cooperate with the NY Times on the story.   Would both news outlets have cooperated and kept silent if the abducted person was one of our troops?  We think not.  The mainstream media seem perfectly willing to protect their own, but when it comes to protecting those who protect us; they don't recieve the same courtesy.
